Visit the Natural Park of La Breña y Marismas del Barbate
Just 5 km. from Vejer the pine trees, cliffs, wild beaches, marshes and dunes of the Natural Park of La Breña y Marismas del Barbate stretch out from land to sea. With its five ecosystems, a mix of land, forest, cliffs and sea it's a perfect location for sports such as hiking, trekking, cycling, diving, fishing, surfing and more...
Several routes cross the Natural Park of La Breña. Its scent is unique: pine, aromatic plants and sea mixing to delight the senses. The goldfinch, the fox and the chameleon are terrestrial species found among the pines and cliffs. In its wetland there are many molluscs such as clams, oysters and mussels and in their waters we can find fish such as bream, sea bass or sole.
Whether for a walk, playing sports, taking photographs or a fun picnic La Breña rises majestically from the hills close to Vejer and runs down to the Atlantic Ocean. A must is a visit to the 'Torre de Tajo', a 16th. century tower set more than a 100m. above sea level with views into the Gibraltar Strait and the African continent.
